As some of you know, I grew up outside of Brighton, which means that I pretty much spent every possible moment I could there.
OK, the beach is covered in stones so you can’t sit comfortably, not to mention the seagulls are a terrifying mobster gang that will attack if there is the slightest chance they can steal your food. But Brighton has my heart.
There is art literally everywhere, music can be heard on the wind, the food takes you around the world and the people are an eclectic mix that can not be described. I know Brighton has its problem, but it’s ‘home’.
So when Mr Lotus’ mum mentioned she had never been there, I saw my chance. “Oh, why don’t we go there for the weekend?”
One quick train journey later and we were immersed in the Lanes visiting the numerous independent shops and markets.
I adore street art and luckily Mr Lotus’ mum is a budding artist, so had no objections to being dragged down back streets to see the latest creations.
And of course, we had to visit the pier.
I think it’s safe to say that Mr Lotus and his mum enjoyed our adventure.
As for me, don’t worry Brighton, I’ll be back soon.
