I remember my first charity event. I was 6 and I organised (well my mum did, I just had a clipboard) a village jumble sale to raise money for the Blue Peter charity drive that year. I can still remember the smell of old clothes piled high in the dusty hall. I cried for a week when I didn’t get my Blue Peter badge.
From that day though, I promised I would do something for charity every year, because in many ways I’ve been lucky. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had some seriously hard times, but some how I’ve always managed to stand up and yell “Is that all you got?!” and carry on. But I’ve seen how hard things can get for others and how important a simple gesture like a smile, can change so much.
Here’s a few of my crazy antics from other years…
2008 I did the Race For Life, Cancer Research UK
In 2009 I volunteered for a Club 2000 which is a tiny, but amazing, charity based in Telford, Shropshire, that provide a Sports and Leisure club for people with disabilities. We worked so hard we were awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service
2013 I jumped the Worthing Birdman to raise money for Surfers Against Sewage, see if you can spot me!
In 2015, after losing my Great Aunt, I ran the Bournemouth Half Marathon for her favourite charity RNIB.
When I started Lotus Photography, charity was always going to be part of it. That’s why with every photo session I do, a donation will be made to your chosen UK registered charity. That’s EVERY session, something goes to charity.
So tell me, which charities are close to your heart?
